Exploring how economics work through the most popular Singaporean design financial literacy game
Singapore, 26th June 2019 Capital Gains Studio is proud to announce the launch of the second edition of the best-selling financial boardgame – Wongamania: Banana Economy with more visually attractive graphic design, new mechanics, a new educational guide and a Chinese - English duo edition.
“Thanks to the popularity our first edition, we decided to launch a 2nd edition with many upgrades,” said Wongamania Creator, Xeo Lye. “Other than improved mechanics and enhanced graphic designs, we have included an educational guide to help players understand how the game ties in with real life economics. As the financial literacy movement around the world becomes more vibrant, we hope that Wongamania can become an invaluable tool to make financial education fun and approachable.”
Economic Lessons from Wongamania: Banana Economy
While everyone loves money, most people hate learning about finance and economics. This irony is a result of all the thick tome of financial jargon, formulas and charts that many presumed that they have to master to be proficient in economics and investing. Capital Gains Studios is challenging and changing that status quo through their flagship board game, Wongamania: Banana Economy.
A game will see you learning how to juggle different asset classes to maximize your income in good and bad times by depicting an economic cycle including 4 different segments: Recession. Recovery, Growth and Stagnancy. During each stage of the economic cycle, you have to allocate your assets most effectively, through diversification or focus investing. Meanwhile, you can sabotage your opponents using life events such as having a baby or defend yourself by getting protected with insurance.
In the second edition of Wongamania: Banana Economy, the new educational guide would provide you an insight of the various personal finance and investment concepts that have been designed into the game. It also serves as a design road-map how Capital Gains Studio is able to gamify complex real life economic scenarios into a fun and educational board-game.
Other than the educational guide, various improvements have been designed to make the game better. For example, a new card drafting mechanic has also been introduced to allow players to have more choices to make strategic play during their turn and the powers on many cards have been tweaked. The game art is also given a face-lift with an entirely new set of graphic design, improving the overall feel and look of the game.
The 2nd edition of Wongamania: Banana Economy is slated to be launched on 1st Aug 2019 and pre-orders are open now.
Who Is This Game For
By bringing you through the world of inflation, interest rates, taxes, and political turmoil, Wongamania: Banana Economy is a light-medium strategy economic board game that promises financial literacy provision with plenty of fun and interaction. Wongamania: Banana Economy is for 2 to 5 players, suitable for players age 10 and above. It takes approximately 30-60 minutes to complete the game.
